How do I automate the publishing of my sales channels for pre-orders?Updated 2 days ago
We're excited to introduce a new automation feature designed to streamline your pre-order process.
Understanding that Purple Dot is not yet compatible with sales channels like Shop, Facebook, and Instagram, we've developed a solution to reduce the manual load of managing these channels for products on pre-order.
Typically, enabling these channels for pre-order products could lead to orders bypassing Purple Dot, resulting in customers not receiving pre-order communications and potentially leading to oversell.
Our new automation feature handles everything, alleviating the need for manually monitoring and updating these channels—removing pre-order products and adding them back once in stock.
Here's how you can enable this setting:
1. First, ensure you have the correct permissions in your Shopify admin for our app. You'll need to give permission to the write_publications and read_publications. Click here for a Loom on where to add these permissions.

2. Go to the Settings tab on the left-hand dashboard. Click Operations, then toggle the Sales Channel button to enable this automation feature.
3. You will then need to define the channels you want to leave on when a product is on pre-order.
For example, if you only want to enable your Online Store and Tapcart when your products are live on pre-order, you should configure your sales channels as follows:

4. Lastly, you need to define the channels you want your products to return to when they are no longer on pre-order.

Now, Purple Dot automatically manages the sales channels for your waitlisted products when they come on and off pre-order.
*Note:
- It can take up to a minute for these changes to sync to your products in Shopify.
- If you make any changes, this will sync across all products live on pre-order.
- Turning off this feature will stop Purple Dot from updating channels when products go on pre-order. If you turn it off, the current channel settings for live pre-order products will remain unchanged.
