With auto-exports, do my waitlists pause when stock arrives?Updated 2 days ago
Our auto-export feature enables pre-orders to be automatically exported into Shopify when Purple Dot spots that stock is available (link here to learn more about our export options).
You may be wondering what happens to your waitlist with auto-exports turned on. Purple Dot will automatically pause the waitlist for you in certain cases so you don't have to manually pause them:
When full stock has arrived
The waitlist will pause if the stock added in Shopify is greater than, or equal to, the total buy size for that waitlist. Because of the in-stock availability, Purple Dot assumes that this product is now in stock, and therefore the waitlist is paused.
When stock arrives, and the waitlist is overdue
The waitlist will pause if enough stock for all open pre-orders is added in Shopify and the waitlist is overdue (latest estimated shipping date is in the past). Purple Dot assumes that this product is no longer available for pre-order, and therefore the waitlist is paused.
Here’s an example of how auto-pause works with a single variant product:
Let’s say a brand has auto-exports turned on, with a waitlist of Blue Caps with 20 units available and 11 open pre-orders. The latest estimated ship date is May 17th.
Their waitlist would auto-pause in either of these two cases:
If 20 or more units become available in Shopify. Purple Dot assumes this is now in-stock, and the waitlist is auto-paused.
Once 11 units become available in Shopify, and it’s after May 17th (overdue). Purple Dot assumes this product is no longer available for pre-order, and the waitlist is auto-paused.
You can always resume a waitlist in the dashboard.
Here’s an example of how auto-pause works with a multi-variant product:
A brand has auto-exports turned on, with a waitlist of Totes with 100 units available for 3 black-colored tote sizes. If 100 (or more) units arrive for the Small, Large, and XXXL in Shopify, then the waitlist will auto-pause.
If 150 Black / Small arrives, 100 Black / Large arrives, and only 70 or the Black XXXL arrives, then the waitlist won't pause.

For the waitlist to pause, stock must arrive equal to or greater than the buy size for each SKU on the waitlist.
